Auditor General Tables Audit of Bus Service Planning and Scheduling, Cybersecurity – Critical Infrastructure and Two Follow-Up Reports
June 19, 2026
Ottawa – Today, Auditor General Nathalie Gougeon tabled a number of reports including an Audit of Bus Service Planning and Scheduling, Cybersecurity – Critical Infrastructure and two Follow-Up Reports.
The Audit of Bus Service Planning and Scheduling highlighted issues with inaccurate run times (i.e. the time it takes to complete individual bus trips) and bus shortages that have impacted OC Transpo’s ability to reliably deliver its scheduled bus service. The audit further found that service standards and policies that guide transit service planning are outdated and, at times, unrealistic.
Mme. Gougeon stated that, “the audit aims to provide specific short-term and longer-term recommendations to improve the planning of bus service, highlighting that trade-offs may be required for OC Transpo to deliver a reliable and efficient bus network given existing resource constraints.”
The report included ten (10) recommendations, all of which were agreed to by management.
Mme. Gougeon also tabled a Follow-Up Report: Review of Job Evaluation Processes outlining the progress made by management in implementing the recommendations from the 2022 report. The follow-up work highlighted that several recommendations remain outstanding.
Finally, Mme. Gougeon tabled an Audit of Cybersecurity - Critical Infrastructure report and a Follow-Up Report on previously issued audits on cybersecurity in a closed session.
Full copies of the reports discussed in the open session are available on the Auditor General’s website under Audits and Follow-Up Reports.
