Auditor General is Set to Table Three Audits on the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Police Service and Ottawa Police Services Board’s responses to the Convoy Protest
Ottawa – Auditor General Nathalie Gougeon will be releasing three reports surrounding the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Police Service (OPS) and Ottawa Police Services Board’s (OPSB) responses to the convoy protest.
On March 28, 2022, the OPSB requested that the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) consider conducting an audit of the OPS’ response to the convoy protest, including the Board’s roles and responsibilities to handle major events and crisis management.
On March 29, 2022, the City Manager provided a written request to the Auditor General requesting that the Office of the Auditor General consider undertaking the independent evaluation of the City’s response to the Convoy Protest as directed on February 7, 2022 by City Council.
The Auditor General accepted both requests on March 29, 2022.
The Auditor General will be presenting two reports at an upcoming special OPSB meeting. The reports to be tabled include the:
- Audit of the Ottawa Police Service’s Response to the Convoy Protest – The Role of the OPSB; and
- Audit of the Ottawa Police Service’s Response to the Convoy Protest – Collaboration with the City
OPSB special meeting details:
- Date: Thursday, February 9, 2023
- Time: 2:00 p.m.
In addition, the Auditor General will be presenting to the Audit Committee the Audit of the City of Ottawa’s Response to the Convoy Protest.
- Date: Friday, February 17, 2023
- Time: 9:30 a.m.
All three reports will be released to the public on February 8, 2023.
The Auditor General will not comment on the results of her audits until after presenting the reports to the respective oversight bodies.
